With the release of the sequel recently i took the opportunity to pick up the first game, After a staple diet of Tony Hawks Games since their first release, my pallette has developed to a point of being intimately familiar with the control and physics of the series. With a resounding thud of bone on board i had my first experiance with the skate series.

In terms of control structure the Skate system is pleasently natural with the left and right thumbsticks covering direction and the performance of tricks, the subtle differances of tricks isn’t much of an issue in the majority of the game but in the close of the game it becomes much more important when you come to set challenges, where switching from a 360 flip to a tailslide becomes a exercise in precision rather than comfort. Reaching past these last few missions frustration can occur for the completionist but in my particular case i just decided to give up and move on.

Music is a matter of taste but i humbly ask anyone who dislikes the sountrack to this game to kinda fuck off back to tony hawks, theres some stellar choices in the games soundtrack and its application in the open world environment welcomes the skaters to a good time when they get into earshot of the more popular skating spots ingame. This aesthetic lends inversely to the pleasure of finding spots that are sound-trackless but an excellent place to pull of some of the harder score target missions.

Storyline is sadly a smaller part of this game compared to the sequel but the delightful choice of photos you can make will have you retrying those photo shoot missions until you have your most impressive shot emblazoned over the pages. Along with meeting each of the professional characters in the storyline mode you will unlock the more common types of missions. From the typical game of Horse to rounds of competitions, These are superceded in my eyes by the Deathraces. you will take part in the races which will twist around always changing traffic of vehicular and pedestrian variety. These hazards and the computer AI slowly driving you insane on all the crush points where not just will you clatter you own character but every time you respawn another skater will slam straight into you taking your anger to meteoric levels.

Overall: I’m not to sure what i was saying about the individual segments of the game but the beauty of having this space to complain and comment and being a fan of writing too long; didn’t read reviews lets me say this in the end. i recommend Skate for anyone who likes skating. It’s control system is an intuitive if unforgiving mistress and you won’t get to bored until you reach the end game missions but at that point you will have had an enriching experiance.

Long time differance from previous post but that doesnt matter a fig, this is the portable test for Wordpress coming to you live from my phone so its sort of like twittering but not quite not quite a question of what i am doing right now, more like a little look of what is to come.

This generic thefted look you can see on the site is changing slowly this week thats step one integration of the forum into the site is step 2. step 3 is content and step four is profit… well not financial profit but at least mental health from crossing one of many things off my list of duties.
